Free Crochet Pattern Interchangeable Flower (for hats)

Free crochet pattern flower

I just finished a cute hat order for a new customer.  She had sent me a picture of  a hat set with interchangeable flowers that she found online and wanted the same thing.  I always have trouble finding flower patterns, I get impatient (or a little lazy) and usually just give up.  With this order, I just went ahead and gave a flower a go on my own to see what I came up with.  I’ll confess, as a crocheter, flowers are not my favorite thing to do, especially when they’re layered.  However, this pattern was quick and I was able to work up 3 in just a matter of a few minutes.  I like EASY, and this crochet flower pattern is just that.  This flower is made to fit over a button so you can interchange colors like with this set, which is why the center is open.

I think u mean bpsc. If u do a fpsc then your petals will be in the front of the smaller petals. Working from back to front is bpsc. Fpsc is working from the front to the back.

    Hi Amy,

    The buttoned flowers are adorable.

I am so wishing like others to have the HAT pattern – preferably for 3 granddaughters ages 3/4, 10 and 14.

Do you have the pattern? Are you able to please post or email it?

    Thank you,
    Debbie

Hi Debbie, I had always intended to publish the pattern here, and life just got really crazy :/ I haven’t even crocheted in quite a while, but the interest in this hat pattern has picked back up here recently, so I am going to make it a point to get this done this week for sure. I will have it finished by the weekend and publish it here, if you would like please subscribe to my blog in the sidebar. That will ensure that you know as soon as I get it published. Thank you for stopping by ๐Ÿ™‚

I was just asked to make an infant hat with some sort of adornment and this would be great! Where might I find the hat pattern? Thank you so much for sharing your pattern for the flowers!

What’s the finished size in the worsted weight? Am I misreading that I can change the chain 8 in step 1 to a magic loop?
    Thanks.

This is great. I was actually asked to make the same hat, (I believe) and I prefer not to buy patterns if I don’t have to, (I understand that people put a lot of time and effort into some of those, but I don’t normally have cash to spare) so I love that I’m not going to have to try to figure the flower out on my own. It’s not really my greatest ability.

Lol, well I’m glad I can help. Flowers aren’t my favoritest thing either, but this one is pretty simple.

Hi Pam, I swear I had the pattern for this in several sizes. Let me look to see if I have it saved in my docs. Is there a particular size you need?

Okay, I think the patterns I wrote up were smaller, but I can work on that today and post it this afternoon if that will work, I have a 5 year old myself ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a really easy pattern.

Amy, I was wondering if you had the pattern for this hat available. It is such a dainty looking hat for young ladies, I would really like to make it.

Hi Mandi, I used about a 1″ diameter but you can make fit different size by increasing or decreasing the tightness of the flower when you close it with the magic circle.
